Joshua Flicker is a long time resident of Salt Lake City Utah who has recently returned to the state after a three year stint in Sayulita Mexico.  His unique style of work often combines up to 8 layers of slip (liquid clay) that are built up and then carved away to reveal intricate patterns and textures.   Inspired by his love of the outdoors, Flicker's work is evocative of natural elements such as wood, rock, shells, water, and various landscapes.  The viewer might also find oneself confronted by topographical representations, botanical allusions, the effects of insect blight, erosion, seasonal change, growth, migration, and any other of the numerous and varied cycles of life.  One of Joshua's favorite things is to hear how others interpret his work and then to see how that interpretation relates to his own life experience, while also giving him a glimpse into the life and experiences of the viewer.
