“I am originally from Ottawa, Canada and after moving around Canada and the United States I eventually landed in Salt Lake City, Utah, land of amazing skiing with beautiful redrock close by. We recently built a house near Torrey, Utah, so now I can enjoy hiking and biking in both areas.
I started doing pottery in the 1978 in State College Pennsylvania after attending arts festivals and loving the look and feel of pottery and realizing that it would be fun to learn to make such lovely pieces. I have been learning pottery techniques since then in places we’ve lived including Boulder Colorado, Carson City Nevada and Salt Lake City Utah each place having amazing instructors with their own individual skills and methods and ideas for me to build on. I love the many steps it takes to create a piece, the intense focus on a lump of clay, the various phases the clay goes through, the precision, yet never knowing until the kiln opens what the results will be, but hopefully ending up with a beautiful pot.
I enjoy making functional pots but also love the challenge of creating art forms and using alternative firing techniques.”
