“Straight out of graduate school, my husband got a job in Eastern Tennessee. So we moved from the far West to the bosom of crafts, Appalachia. I was at loose ends. For Christmas that year I got a small clipping from the local paper advertising wood carving, basket weaving, apple head dolls, and ceramics. I took a class and was hooked. Since then, wherever I’ve been, I have found a place to work with clay. I do both hand building and throwing on the wheel—often both. I enjoy textures and the different colors of clay.”
